Personalized Practice Support

The Master Class, Partner Level
The Master Class, Partner Level, is for attorneys with established practices who are either experiencing specific challenges in their practices, or are “topping out” and looking for keys to taking their practices to the next level. 

A specially selected Master Class Practice Advisor works one-on-one with the attorney to identify gaps in his or her skill set, understand their team and working environment, and develop a plan of action. Then, over a focused 90-day period, the Practice Advisor works with the attorney in weekly or more frequent sessions via telephone, helping implement specific new procedures, systems and processes which enhance efficiency and billable hours, build a more effective team, and increase revenues. By the end of the 90-day period, attorneys will be able to identify substantive improvements in their skills, team leadership and leverage, and stress levels. Additionally, they will be able to project a significant increase in revenues for the year. 

The Master Class, Associate Level
The Master Class, Associate Level is for associates who demonstrate high potential but consistently seem to be unable to achieve that potential, and are not returning the firm’s considerable investment in them. The Master Class diagnoses the problems and issues, quickly applies proven methodology to train the associate in new and more productive work and client development habits, and moves the Associate rapidly toward productivity and profitability to the firm.

To achieve these results, Master Class Practice Advisors apply practical, results-oriented methodology developed through years of work with attorneys in similar situations. Each Practice Advisor has worked with many attorneys on a wide variety of issues, and has the tools and experience to assist the attorney on any practice management or client development issue. 

The Master Class begins with a Practice Evaluation, and is usually followed by an on-site visit to the attorney’s office to meet personally with the attorney, evaluate the work environment, and begin the coaching process. Thereafter, the client has the completely personal, confidential support of a highly experienced Senior Practice Advisor who has worked with dozens of other attorneys on similar issues, and the firm has the support of a proven expert in moving or returning the attorney to profitability. After the initial on-site visit, the attorney and Practice Advisor work together by telephone on a weekly or whatever basis, best supports the attorney in achieving the desired results.


Master Class 90-Day Team Training Program
A highly effective method of increasing enhancing productivity or client development skills for practice groups, departments or teams is an ongoing “team challenge” environment, where team members support and reinforce each other in setting new goals, integrating new skills and habits, and taking new actions. The 90-Day Team Training Program begins with a one to two-day on-site visit by the selected Practice Advisor, to understand their team and working environment, identify gaps in the team’s systems, procedures and skills, and develop a plan of action. This is followed by a two to four-hour on-site workshop and strategy session, developed uniquely to fit the team’s needs and priorities, and led by the Practice Advisor and. As part of this session, the team sets goals and activities for the next 90 days. Team members then work individually with the Practice Advisor in bi-weekly one-hour coaching sessions, with full team conference calls with the Practice Advisor on alternate weeks.


Firm Support Programs

Firm Retreat
Experienced Master Class facilitators can help the firm develop a clear focus, vision and plan for the coming year, and build consensus among the leadership team. 
A properly planned and executed retreat is designed to:

  • Review and address current and anticipated changes in the marketplace
  • Set firm priorities, visions and goals
  • Unify the leadership team around those goals, and address key “people problems” such as personality conflicts, retirement of a partner, or hiring/firing decisions
  • Address concerns and threats to the firm’s prosperity
  • Plan how to take advantage of opportunities

Experienced, focused Master Class facilitators bring new clarity, depth and urgency to otherwise familiar issues, and lead the team through effective resolution of new issues. The experienced facilitator is able to help uncover key strategies and issues, keep the team focused, and draw out undercurrents, hidden agendas and dissension that can diffuse or even defeat the most well meant strategies and plans.

Firms that do not regularly conduct an effective firm retreat are at a distinct disadvantage over more focused firms. Without a strong focus, such firms generally continue to operate on the basis of “understandings” rather than full agreements of principals, resulting in strife and disagreement. Concrete strategic initiatives are seldom undertaken, and leadership is based on the “lowest common denominator” of what is acceptable rather than on a clear, planned, unified and courageous direction. 

This condition usually results in continued lack of firm focus, falling market share, and consequently decreased revenues. The end result of these conditions is often loss of the firm’s “best and brightest.”

Half - Day “Foundation” Seminar
This half-day workshop provides attendees with an overview of key Practice Productivity and Client Development fundamentals, and specific tools that can be implemented immediately. Attorneys are encouraged to attend with key support staff members, to facilitate implementation of recommended basic steps.

Half-Day “Focus” Seminars
Special half-day programs focusing solely on Client Development or Productivity are also available.


Full-Day Intensive Skills Development Workshop 
This highly interactive and intensive Productivity and Client Development workshop expands on (or substitutes for) the overview provided by the “Foundations” seminar, and provides participants with scores of tools and concepts they can apply immediately. All firm members, from attorney to key staff support personnel, are urged to participate in this skill-development workshop. The Skills Development Workshop covers the following topics:

Practice Productivity - Participants will learn keys to:

  • More effective personal time management 
  • Increased productivity, time tracking and billings
  • More effective delegation for better staff utilization and leverage
  • Increased control and quality of work product
  • Reduced attorney and staff stress
  • Reduced staff turnover
  • Increased client satisfaction 

Client Development - Participants will learn how to: 

  • Develop and manage their list of referral sources 
  • Expand their list of referral sources
  • Identify and target sources for higher quality clients
  • Develop effective, powerful communications techniques to enhance referral relationships 
  • Identify and accomplish more enjoyable, effective client development actions
  • Increase client development activity and consistency 
  • Increase referral business by 20-30% during the first year and each year thereafter

Two-Hour Productivity or Client Development Workshop
These special programs provide nuts-and-bolts summaries of key Productivity or Client Development concepts, and feature hands-on exercises to allow participants to fully understand how each would apply in their practice. Participants leave with specific tools they can apply successfully in their practices. Each program is approved for 2 general CLE credit hours in Florida.
